The Reflected Sunset Series

Like many photographers, I find taking pictures at sunset hard to resist. The light is golden and rapidly changing. Shadows lengthen and deepen, adding a feeling of mystery, magic, and sometimes a sense of loss.

A few months ago, I inadvertently captured reflections of the sunset in windows as I was walking home from my studio. I was intrigued by way that the reflected sunset and bits of landscape interacted with the shop interiors, inner and outer worlds colliding and creating a natural layering of forms and meanings. The challenge of coming upon the right combination of elements in that brief transition from day to night makes the process of creating these images both exciting and unpredictable.
